We are pleased to announce that on October 1, 2019 the firm name changed to Henderson, Caverly, Pum & Trytten LLP and welcomed Steven E. Trytten and his entire staff of attorneys, paralegals, and administrative professionals to the firm in our new Los Angeles County Tax, Estate, and Business Planning Office.

Steven E. Trytten, J.D., M.B.A., C.P.A. joined the firm as managing partner in our new office located in the beautiful and historic city of Pasadena, California. Steve is a nationally recognized Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (“ACTEC”) and becomes the 5th ACTEC Fellow in the firm. Steve is recognized in the 2019 Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide as a top attorney serving high net worth clients. He is also recognized as one of the top lawyers in the U.S. by his inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®. Steve teaches as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami Graduate Program in Estate Planning and is a frequent speaker at ACTEC meetings and other programs across the county. He is a “Certified Specialist” both in Taxation Law, and in Estate Planning and Probate Law (certification by the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California). Previously, Steve practiced for 17 years as a founding partner of AFRCT LLP in Pasadena, California.

Erica B. Deutsch, J.D., LL.M. joined the firm as a partner in our new Pasadena office. Erica obtained her law degree from the Pepperdine University School of Law in 2011 and has practiced with Steve since graduating from the University of Miami Graduate Program in Estate Planning in 2012. Erica specializes in sophisticated tax and estate planning matters, including gift and sale transactions, advising and implementing business succession strategies, preparing gift and estate tax returns, and guiding clients through the administration of lifetime and testamentary trusts and probate estates. Erica is an incoming vice chair of the Generation Skipping Transfers Committee of the Real Property, Trust and Probate Section of the American Bar Association.

Lisa B. Roper became a Partner at the firm’s San Diego Office.  Lisa B. Roper advises the firm’s clients in estate and trust controversies, estate and trust administrations, probate, guardianships, and conservatorships. Ms. Roper received her law degree in 2011 and her LL.M in Taxation in 2015 from the University of San Diego School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in California and is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Roper authored the 2018 article, “The Intersection of Death and Divorce: Where Probate and Family Law Collide,” published in the California Trusts and Estate Quarterly and has co-authored or otherwise contributed to numerous other articles and outlines.

Partner Katharine Davidson leads the international private client practice.  She regularly counsels foreign clients with respect to investments in the United States and advises U.S. entities and individuals who conduct business abroad.

Partners Richard Hyatt and Hildy Fentin come with decades of experience and are experts in high-asset cases lead the family law practice.

Henderson, Caverly, Pum & Trytten LLP recently added tax-exempt organizations into its practice areas.  Partner Jonathan Grissom represents a wide variety of public charities, family foundations, private operating foundations, community foundations, private schools and other nonprofit organizations.
